POLY by Nicolas Vanier – Saturday February 19 – 11 am

English subtitles – Free screening

Sometimes, between an animal and a human being, more than a bond is born: a love story…

Summer 1964. In Beaucastel, in the Gard, the yéyés songs resonate in the transistors and the children take a dip in the clear waters of the Cèze to cool off. In this idyllic setting, however, Cécile continues to curse. Why did his mother, Louise, make him leave Paris for this “lost hole”?
Here, nothing goes for her: her new house is sordid, the local kids are mocking, her father, gone to Italy, she misses. As for Victor, a very sleazy man who owns a castle in ruins, he revolves around his mother a little too much.

Cécile feels alone, she is so bored… Until the arrival with fanfare of a circus directed by the authoritarian Brancalou. The star of the show is a pony named Poly. Between the mistreated animal and the child an incredible friendship is born. The beginning of a crazy and beautiful adventure that will lead them far from this hostile environment. And will make them brave all the dangers…

Affiche Film Delicieux

DELICIEUX of Eric Besnard Saturday February 19 – 1.30 pm

English subtitles – Free screening

In late 18th Century France, popular unrest is broiling, the people are hungry for change. But for Manceron (Grégory Gadebois), personal chef to a gourmand duke, the breaking point comes when his patron rebukes him for serving a potato and truffle appetizer: peasant food. Exiled to a country inn, the chef tries to forget about cooking.

That is, until Louise (Isabelle Carré) shows up on his doorstep and insists he take her as an apprentice…

This imaginative tale of the first restaurant in France is aptly named and a feast for the eyes, each shot photographed like an oil painting. Bon appetit!
“No doubt Délicieux will capture the hearts of audiences with its astonishingly beautiful cinematography.” La Presse
